Threads organised a poster competition which ean during World Mental Health Week in October 2006.

The competition was open to all people who have a mental illness and reside in Rotherham. There were be two catagories the written word and images.

The Competition was judged by memebers of the public on World Mental Health Day.

The Written Word
This can be a poem or a short story. The poems should cover no more than three quaters of a page and a short story should be limited to no more than 300 words.

Images
Entries may be paintings, photgraphs, embroidery, quillwork or small sculptures. Photographs will be taken of the embroidery, quillwork or sculptures and used for the competition. Photocopies of the paintings and photographs will be made to bring them to a similar size.

Entries should be handed in at the RAIN Building, Eastwood Lane, Rotherham by the beginning of September 2006. Each person is welciome to enter two entries but no more. The best 20 poems and the best 20 images will be chosen and entered into the final stage of the competition.

The best two poems and the best two images will be chosen by members of the public. The winners will each recieve a prize of similar value.

Notice:

Unless Threads is informed that it is unable to do so. Threads will use three entries to create christmas cards and a calender. They will be sold to the general public and the profits from the sale will be used in the services for the benefit of people who suffer from mental illness.
